ICiMB

The ICiMB (Instytut Ceramiki I Materialow Budowlanych - Institute of Ceramics and Building Materials) is a research institution, which was created in 2007 by fusion of Institute of Glass and Ceramics (established in 1951) in Warsaw, Institute of Refractory Materials (IMO – established in 1953) in Gliwice and Institute of Mineral Building Materials (IMMB - established in 1948) in Opole and Krakow.

 

The ICiMB activity is focused on development of ceramic materials, glass, cement and concretes, including problems of raw materials, their processing and environmental aspects of production. Its works include also testing, standardization and certification (EU notification nr 1487).

 

The Refractory Materials Division in Gliwice (former Institute of Refractory Materials) carries out fundamental research and practically oriented development projects and also experts works in the field of refractories production and application. The laboratory for testing of refractory materials applies more than 270 methods, from which 120 are accredited, and possesses marked experience in round-robin tests. It employs experienced team of professionals some of which are the members of domestic standardization technical committee for refractories and participate in CEN standardization works.
